A first experience of golf they will want to repeat
At four, five, six or seven years old, golf should not feel like a technical lesson.
It should feel like play.
Tiger Cubs uses games, challenges, movement and imagination to introduce children to golf in a way that feels exciting rather than intimidating.
They will start developing real golfing skills, but just as importantly they will learn to enjoy being active, trying something new, solving problems and spending time with other children.
“Play is the highest form of research.”
Often attributed to Albert Einstein
That idea fits our approach rather well. Children learn brilliantly when they are curious, involved and having fun.
Young golfers do not need to arrive knowing anything about golf
In fact, many Tiger Cubs are picking up a golf club for the very first time.
Boys and girls aged 4 to 7
The age range is a useful guide rather than a rigid rule. We want each child in the group that best suits their confidence, development and experience.
Perfect for beginners
No previous golf experience is needed. Missing the ball, hitting funny shots and figuring things out are all part of learning.
40-minute sessions
Sessions are deliberately kept short, energetic and varied to suit younger attention spans.
Clubs are provided
Your child does not need their own golf clubs. We have correctly sized junior equipment available for them to use.
Games with a purpose
Putting, chipping and striking are introduced through challenges and games rather than long technical explanations.
Confidence comes first
We want children to leave feeling proud of what they tried and excited to come back again.
Junior golf should be more than standing in a line hitting balls
We have built Tiger Cubs around making golf enjoyable, accessible and easy for children and parents to get involved with.
PGA Professional coaching
Sessions are delivered by experienced PGA coaches who understand that teaching young children is very different from giving an adult golf lesson.
Brilliant practice facilities
Our covered driving range, short-game areas and 9-hole Chip n Putt give young golfers different ways to learn and play.
Small, friendly groups
Children can make friends, play together and still receive plenty of help and encouragement from their coach.
A welcoming place to start
There is no pressure to already be a golfer, own equipment or know the rules. We take care of the golf part.
We want children to have the chance to play between sessions too
Free range practice
Tiger Cubs can enjoy a free basket of range balls each day while enrolled in the programme, giving them the chance to come back and practise.
Free Chip n Putt
They can also use our 9-hole Chip n Putt course, a brilliant way to experience golf with parents, siblings or friends.
Free junior club use
There is no need to rush into buying clubs. We provide correctly sized equipment so children can learn with clubs that actually suit them.
A sport that develops much more than a golf swing
Golf gives young children lots of little problems to solve.
How hard should I hit it? Where should I aim? What happens if I try it a different way?
Develops balance, coordination and movement
Encourages focus and decision-making
Builds confidence through small successes
Helps children learn patience and resilience
Gives families a sport they can enjoy together
Creates an easy pathway into a game they can play for life
Tiger Cubs is just the beginning
As children grow in confidence, experience and independence, they can progress through the wider Dunes Junior Golf programme.
Age is a guide. Our coaches will always consider which group is the best fit for the individual child.
