Who is the Junior Development Squad for?

This group is aimed at junior golfers aged 13 to 17 who already have some golfing experience and are keen to improve.

It is also open to younger juniors by invitation if we feel they have the golfing ability, focus and maturity to benefit from being in an older group.

Whether your child plays regularly, competes in junior events, or simply loves the game and wants to get better, this programme gives them a clear next step.

Please note: this programme is not suitable for complete beginners under the age of 13. It is designed for juniors who already have a basic understanding of golf and are ready to be challenged further.

Why choose the Junior Development Squad?

Your child will be coached by PGA Professional Liam Waldron, who brings both high-level playing experience and professional coaching knowledge to every session.

Liam represented Scotland as part of the Scotland Under-18 Squad, giving him first-hand experience of what it takes to develop as a young golfer.

Just as importantly, he understands how to make coaching engaging, competitive and enjoyable for juniors who are ready to progress.

What your child will develop

Golf skills

Better technique across driving, irons, wedges, short game and putting.

Course confidence

More confidence playing on the course, making decisions and choosing sensible targets.

Competitive mindset

Fun games and challenges that help juniors compete, focus and keep improving.

Individual feedback

Personal coaching points to help each golfer understand what to work on next.

Course management

Confidence and resilience

Building the patience, focus and self-belief that golf teaches so well.

What will each junior learn?

Over the five weeks, juniors will experience every area of the game. Rather than simply hitting balls, every session has a clear purpose.

Players will be challenged through structured games, skill tests, competitions and on-course learning, helping them improve while still enjoying the process.

Putting, short game and scoring skills

Developing juniors need more than a good full swing. They need to learn how to score, how to control distance and how to make better decisions around the green.

That is why the Junior Development Squad includes short game and putting work alongside range practice and on-course learning.

Limited to just 8 junior golfers

To make sure every golfer receives plenty of individual coaching and feedback, places are strictly limited to 8 juniors.

Small groups allow Liam to spend more time with each player, while still creating a supportive, competitive environment where juniors can learn from each other.
