JUNIOR GOLF AT DUNES
Helping children enjoy golf from the very beginning
Junior golf at Dunes is about much more than teaching children how to hit a golf ball.
We want children to look forward to coming to golf. We want them moving, laughing, solving problems, making friends, learning new skills and gradually becoming more confident around the game.
Children do not need any previous golf experience to start. They do not need their own clubs either. We provide properly sized junior equipment free of charge when needed, so families can discover whether golf is right for their child before buying anything.
Coaching takes place across our covered driving range, Toptracer bays, short game facilities and 9 hole Chip n Putt, giving children the chance to experience different parts of the game rather than simply standing in one place hitting golf balls.
THE DUNES JUNIOR PATHWAY
Find the right junior golf programme
Our age groups provide a simple pathway through junior golf, but age is only a guide. We will always consider the child’s confidence, experience and stage of development when deciding which group is most suitable.

MORE THAN A DRIVING RANGE LESSON
Children get to experience the whole game
Having different facilities available means we can keep coaching varied and help juniors learn golf in a much more natural way.
Toptracer Range
Games, targets and instant feedback make practice much more engaging and give children something clear to aim for.
Short Game
Chipping and pitching challenges help children develop touch, imagination and different ways of getting the ball close to the hole.
Putting
Games and challenges make putting competitive, social and fun while quietly developing control and concentration.
Chip n Putt
Our 9 hole Chip n Putt gives children the chance to experience something that feels like real golf and begin learning how to play rather than simply practise.
OUR APPROACH
Golf should be something children want to come back to
Children learn best when they feel relaxed, included and excited to have another go. That is why we use games, challenges and simple coaching rather than filling young golfers’ heads with technical information.
We want to help them become better golfers, but the bigger aim is to develop confidence, coordination, focus, resilience, friendships and a sport they can enjoy for years to come.
Every session is built around three simple words: Safe. Sensible. Fair.

BEFORE YOU BUY JUNIOR GOLF CLUBS
Please don’t buy junior golf clubs yet
If your child is just starting golf, let us check what size they actually need first.
One of the most common things we see is a child arriving with golf clubs that are too long, too heavy or simply not suitable for them.
Junior clubs are not just smaller adult clubs. The length and weight need to suit the child’s height and strength. Clubs that are too big or too heavy can make golf unnecessarily difficult and frustrating.
We have correctly sized junior clubs available to use free of charge, so your child can get started with equipment that actually suits them.
As juniors grow, we can check their height and equipment and help parents understand when it is genuinely time to move into the next size.
When they are ready for their own clubs
- We stock junior equipment from MKids and US Kids Golf
- We can check the correct size before you buy
- We can review existing clubs as your child grows
- Our MKids trade-in programme helps towards the cost of moving into the next size
The aim is simple: give your child equipment that helps them enjoy golf rather than making the game harder.
The age ranges shown by manufacturers are only a guide. We measure children and check the equipment against their actual height before recommending a size.
FOR PARENTS
How to help your child without over-coaching
Parents naturally want to help, but sometimes too much advice can make golf feel more complicated than it needs to be.
In this short video, Peter explains what is useful to encourage, what you do not need to worry about too early and how to help your child keep enjoying the game.

JUNIOR GOLF FAQs
Common questions from parents
Does my child need their own golf clubs?
No. We provide correctly sized junior clubs and equipment at no extra cost when needed, so there is no need to buy clubs before your child starts.
Is junior golf suitable for complete beginners?
Yes. Tiger Cubs and Tiger Golf are both suitable for complete beginners. Sessions are designed to be fun, simple, welcoming and appropriate for the child.
What age can children start golf lessons?
Tiger Cubs is our youngest programme and is generally suitable from around age 4. Age bands are a guide, and we consider the individual child when deciding the most suitable group.
What if none of the current class times suit us?
Join the waiting list anyway. You can tell us which other days or times could work. We use that information both to match families with future spaces and to understand demand for additional classes.
Does joining the waiting list guarantee a place?
No. Joining the waiting list does not guarantee a space, but waiting-list families receive access to suitable remaining places before general booking opens.
Is there golf coaching for teenagers?
Yes. Our Development Squad is aimed mainly at golfers aged around 13 to 17 who are ready for a more focused coaching environment. Younger golfers may also move into the group when the coaches feel it is the right next step.
What happens if a place becomes available during a coaching block?
Occasionally a place may become available after a series has started. Where suitable, we may offer the remaining sessions rather than making a child wait until the next block.
How do you keep junior golf sessions safe?
Every session is built around three simple words: Safe, Sensible and Fair. Children are taught clear routines and expectations so they can enjoy golf in a controlled and positive environment.
