Junior Golf Coaching at Dunes
Fun, safe and professional golf coaching for children aged 4 to 17. From first swings to the Junior Development Squad, we help children build confidence, coordination, friendships and a love for the game.
A sport for life
One of the best gifts you can give your child
Getting your child involved in golf can be one of the most valuable things you ever do for them.
At Dunes Golf Centre, our junior coaching has been built around one simple aim: to make golf fun, safe, social and easy for children to enjoy.
Children do not need to be sporty, confident, strong or experienced to get started. They just need the right environment, the right encouragement and the chance to learn through play.
A note from Peter
Kids need real-world confidence
Screens are part of modern family life, but children also need opportunities to move, focus, socialise and build confidence in the real world.
Golf is brilliant for that. It gives children fresh air, friendships, problem-solving, patience and a sport they can enjoy for the rest of their life.
That is why we work so hard to make junior golf at Dunes feel safe, welcoming and fun from the very first session.
Peter Myers, PGA Professional

Why parents choose Dunes
Professional coaching, delivered in a way children actually enjoy
The Junior Academy at Dunes Golf Centre has established itself as one of the leading venues for children’s golf lessons because we keep the environment fun, safe, structured and encouraging.
We believe children learn best when they feel relaxed, included and excited to try again. That is why our coaching is built around games, challenges, targets and simple routines rather than overloading children with technical information.
The aim is not just to create better golf swings. It is to help children build confidence, coordination, focus, resilience, friendships and healthy habits that can last for life.
Safe, Sensible, Fair
Every session starts with our three magic words. They help children understand how to look after themselves, make good choices and treat others well.
Learning through play
Games and challenges help children build real skills while keeping lessons enjoyable, social and age-appropriate.
Free club hire
Your child does not need their own clubs to get started. We provide suitable junior equipment at no extra cost.

Why golf is brilliant for children
Golf is more than a sport. It helps children build skills and habits that can support them for life.
Anyone can start
Children do not need to be strong, fast or experienced. Golf is suitable for all shapes, sizes and confidence levels.
A safe sport
Golf is non-contact and can be taught in a calm, controlled and positive environment.
Healthy outdoor time
It gets children moving, outdoors and away from screens in a way that feels enjoyable rather than forced.
Confidence and resilience
Golf teaches children to try, learn, reset and have another go. That is a powerful lesson.
Friendships
Junior golf gives children a relaxed, social environment where friendships can form naturally.
Family time
Golf can be enjoyed by children, parents and grandparents together. It is one of the few sports that can last a lifetime.
Focus and patience
Children learn to slow down, choose a target, follow a routine and concentrate on one thing at a time.
Balance and coordination
Golf quietly develops body control, rhythm, movement and hand-eye coordination.
It is fun
With games, challenges, Toptracer and the chip and putt, children can learn without it feeling like a lesson.
Practice made fun
Bring the kids along to the Toptracer Range
Outside of coaching sessions, the driving range at Dunes is a great place for children and families to enjoy golf together.
Toptracer games such as GoFish!, Angry Birds, Closest to the Pin and Long Drive make practice feel like play. Children get clear targets, instant feedback and a reason to keep trying.

One to one lessons
Private junior golf lessons
We strongly recommend group lessons for most juniors because the fun, games and social interaction are such an important part of the learning experience.
However, private one to one lessons can be a good option for juniors who are playing regularly and want help with a specific part of the game, or who need a more individual long-term improvement plan.
Book a Private LessonBest suited to juniors who:
- Already play golf regularly
- Want help with a specific skill
- Need individual feedback
- Have a goal they are working towards
Junior Golf FAQs
Common questions from parents
Does my child need their own golf clubs?
No. We provide clubs and equipment at no extra cost, so your child can get started without you needing to buy anything.
Is junior golf suitable for complete beginners?
Yes. Tiger Cubs and Tiger Golf are both suitable for complete beginners. We keep the sessions fun, simple and age-appropriate.
What age can children start golf lessons?
Our Tiger Cubs sessions are for children aged 4 to 7, and they are designed as a fun first experience of golf.
What if the group I want is full?
Join the waitlist through the relevant programme page. Waitlist families are usually given first chance when new spaces or new blocks become available.
Is there coaching for teenagers?
Yes. Our Junior Development Squad is aimed at golfers aged 13 to 17 who already have some golf experience and want to keep improving. Younger juniors may also be invited if they are ready for the older group.
How do you keep the range safe for children?
Every session starts with our three magic words: Safe, Sensible and Fair. On the range, the key rule is one person in a bay at a time, with anyone waiting standing safely on the carpet.
